List of Sliders episodes

"In Dino Veritas" is the seventh episode of the second season of the science fiction television show Sliders. It originally aired on April 26 1996.

Plot

The episode starts on a world where everybody wears mandatory collars, designed to shock people when they lie. As a result of this technology, the Sliders true identity has been discovered and a news crew follows Wade to the slide-out and films it.

They arrive, all still wearing their collars, on a new world that seems to at first to be uninhabited. As it turns out, on this world dinosaurs still exist, but as an endangered species. San Francisco is a wildlife preserve on this world.

While fleeing an allosaurus (they broke one of its eggs on the slide in), Arturo falls, hurts his ankle, and drops the timer. Quinn goes to look for the timer while the others take shelter in a cave.

Because of the truth collars, everyone is forced to be honest about their feelings, including their feelings of hopelessness. Eventually, they reunite and slide out, only to land on an archeological dig and break the bone of an allosaurus.

Trivia

  • The reporter in the world before Dinosaur World was originally written to be Geraldo Rivera. What's more, in the early drafts of the script he was to follow the Sliders to this new world in the hopes of an exclusive, only to be eaten by a dinosaur. The script was rewritten when they couldn't get Rivera to do the show.
  • The title is a pun on the Latin phrase, "In Vino Veritas", meaning "There is, in wine, truth", which is also a quote that Arturo mentions in the previous episode.
  • Jerry O'Connell's role in this episode is much reduced, because he needed time to film his role in the movie Jerry Maguire.

Goofs

When sliding at the end of the episode, the porthole causes the holographic ranger's hair to move.
